Maria Balshaw set to succeed Sir Nicholas Serota at Tate
Director of the Whitworth and Manchester City Galleries MARIA BALSHAW will take over from SIR NICHOLAS SEROTA as Director of Tate if her appointment is approved by government, it is widely being reported.
Balshaw, who was Director of Creative Partnerships before joining Manchester’s university art gallery in 2006, will be the first woman to hold the job.
Serota steps down after 28 years in post to become Chair of Arts Council England.
