Bacc for the Future keeps fighting
Following their successful campaign to stop the implementation of EBacc subject requirements at GCSE level, the Bacc for the Future lobby is continuing to campaign against planned changes, this time at A Level. Education Secretary Michael Gove is proposing that schools and colleges are ranked according to how many students achieve good grades in approved subjects – with creative subjects not included. Concerns are also growing that head teachers will focus on ‘ABacc’ subjects, supposedly to get students into top universities. Those who value the arts are being urged to contact their MPs to say that school performance measures must include creative subjects or be abandoned.
