Stanley Arts

The focus of the role is to develop and deliver the learning and engagement programme of Stanley Arts. You will line-manage three Learning and Engagement Officers and report directly to the AD/ CEO.
As a member of the senior management team, the Learning & Engagement Manager will also contribute to the overall strategic leadership of the organisation, and be the safeguarding lead for Stanley Arts.

As part of a Historic England-funded borough-wide project, the role will ensure the delivery of specified heritage engagement activity across Croydon as well as collaborating with partners in other key cultural organisations in Croydon on audience engagement.

Terms

Full time, permanent contract, 40 hours per week including breaks
Salary of £31k - £33k PA (depending on experience)

3 months' probation during which four weeks' notice required.
Following successful completion of probation, notice period of two months' notice applies.

Job Requirements

  • Experience of recruiting, managing and training staff, creative practitioners and volunteers.
  • Demonstrable experience of programming in cultural, arts or heritage settings for a wide range of participants across: communities, schools, families, people living with dementia and young people.
  • Budget management experience and experience supporting fundraising.
  • Experience of creative evaluation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Project management skills with a proven ability to manage a complex range of events including large scale festival to small group consultation delivered to time and within budget.
  • Effective and committed team player with excellent communication and verbal presentation skills.
  • A strong understanding of issues associated with diversity, representation, social inclusion and audience development.
  • Experience using and implementing audience research and evaluation.
  • Experience of working with audiences to co-produce programmes and displays
  • A passion for heritage

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop projects, partnerships and networks to ensure the engagement programme is relevant and audience-led.
  • Ensure delivery of programmes and projects are to a high standard, including planning, and budgeting.
  • Liaise closely with the in-house evaluation team to ensure we gather all necessary data and content for evaluation and reporting.
  • Manage relationships with funders on progress and budgeting through regular updates and end of project reporting.
  • Line management the Learning and Engagement Youth Officer, two Learning and Engagement Heritage Officers and a wider team of volunteers, freelancers and students.
  • Maintain existing relationships and expanding the reach of school engagement activity.
  • Build consistent family learning opportunities through arts and crafts, workshops, events, shows and festivals.
  • Oversee the development of the new youth engagement strand of work; including work experience, environmental projects and LGBTQ+ workshops.
  • Embed adult learning through tours and talks and work collaboratively with the fundraising team tobuild opportunities for individual giving.
  • Support NPO (Arts Council England - National Portfolio Organisation) activity plan delivery including exhibition programming and delivering development surgeries to offer support to artists and organisations on learning and engagement.
  • Oversee safeguarding as the designated safeguarding lead, lead annual safeguarding policy updates, manage staff training on safeguarding and DBS checks for new staff and volunteers. 
  • Oversee volunteer policy responsibilities.
  • Contributing to the duty management rota for public opening of the building, including supervising   front of house staff and taking responsibility for safety and security.
