Programme Manager

Key responsibilities specific to this job

  • To be responsible for managing the delivery of the public programme, administering contracts, venue advances, riders and settlements; collating and ensuring the timely review of health and safety and production information; and compiling and circulating internal information as required.
  • To be responsible for contributing to the management of the venue diary, working positively with colleagues such as to ensure that costs are controlled and opportunities maximized.
  •  Alongside the Operations and Events Departments, help, support and lead on delivery of content as required.
  • To be responsible for achieving promoter hire targets as set out by the Head of Creative Programmes and Director, establishing and developing successful partnerships and relationships.
  • To support the Head of Creative Programmes and Director in the development and delivery of Woolwich Works own / co-promoted programme aspects.
  • Working with the Head of Creative Programmes and Community Programme Manager, support the Resident Artistic Companies in respect of their on-site public programme delivery, and to provide support in respect of the delivery of performance aspects of our Education and Community Programmes.
  • To work with the Box Office Manager, Head of Marketing and external promoters and producers to oversee marketing and on-sale arrangements for each programme aspect, ensuring that any required copy and assets are provided in good time.
  • To undertake project management and manage budgets as required by the Head of Creative Programmes and Director.
  • To actively seek out and pursue events that will contribute to our objective to raise the profile of Woolwich and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

General responsibilities

  • To act as a first aider, fire marshal or Duty Manager if required by the Operations Director or Director.
  • To accommodate, support and encourage work experience placements, interns and apprentices.
  •  To work safely and encourage and require others to work safely, in accordance with the Woolwich Works Health and Safety Policy and any other relevant policy or procedure.
  •  To safeguard the organisation’s data, working in line with the Trust’s data protection policies and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
  •  To be responsible for undertaking training and development as required to meet the needs of the organisation.
  • To always act in the best interests of the Trust, and in line with all company policies.
  • To undertake any other duty in line with the level of the job as may be required.

  • Essential skills and experience
  • Experience of booking artists and spaces for rehearsals.
  • Live event operations experience
  • Experience of budgeting, and profit / loss
  •  A confident communicator with good people skills and emotional intelligence
  • Good IT and administration skills – confident with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Passionate about people, communities, diversity and inclusion

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience of working commercially in a not-for-profit environment
  • Artifax experience
  • Experience of launching a new venue or organisation (or reopening a venue following a prolonged closure)
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • An in-depth knowledge of the Royal Borough of Greenwich
