
Founder and director at Outer Spaces
Shân Edwards is founder and director of Outer Spaces.
Shân studied Fine Art and began her career working on the exhibitions programme at Camden Arts Centre in London and went on to work in freelance development roles with a focus on art spaces and partnerships. She has been an Arts Council of Wales national advisor and a member of the British Council’s Creative Economy UK Hubs Advisory Board.
In Wales, as director of Celf o Gwmpas, she developed expertise in working with disabled artists, creating and supporting developmental opportunities such as residencies, artist-led workshops and presentations.
As artistic director and chief executive at The Art House in Wakefield, she pioneered the UK’s first Studio of Sanctuary for asylum seeking artists and artists from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
Most recently, in a return to Scotland in 2018 as director of Edinburgh Printmakers, she delivered the £10m capital project as a new home for artistic research and experimentation.
