Social justice charity Arts Emergency has named MELISSA WONG Director of Programmes.

Wong has served as Senior Manager for Children, Young People and Learning at Arts Council England, Impact Manager for Nesta Arts & Culture Finance, and Creative Programme Manager for Help Musicians UK, alongside working as a freelance researcher, evaluator, and consultant for the arts and culture sector since 2016.

At Arts Emergency, she will provide leadership and strategic direction of programmes, aiming to deliver high-quality and sustainable services for young people from underrepresented backgrounds pursuing careers in the creative industries.

CEO of Arts Emergency NEIL GRIFFITHS said Wong brings “deep knowledge” of the organisation’s cause and the “issues young people face in accessing cultural opportunity”.

“I have long admired Arts Emergency’s energy and drive to create a cultural sector that reflects the diversity of contemporary society,” Wong added.

“I am excited to work with the team and our amazing network of mentors and supporters to fling open the doors for the next generation of young creatives.”
