Conservative Party leader KEMI BADENOCH has appointed STUART ANDREW as shadow culture secretary.

Andrew became MP for Daventry at this year’s general election, having previously represented Pudsey between 2010 to 2024.

Before being elected to Parliament, he was a fundraiser for Martin House Hospice and has previously worked for British Heart Foundation, Hope House Children’s Hospice and East Lancashire Hospice. He also served as a member of Leeds City Council.

In September 2022, Stuart became Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport under LIZ TRUSS before being reappointed by RISHI SUNAK in October 2022, when he was also handed the brief for Equalities.

Under BORIS JOHNSON, he served as Minister for Housing at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, resigning after 148 days following the fallout of allegations against former housing minister CHRISTOPHER PINCHER.

In opposition, Anderson has served as interim Shadow Chief Whip.

Writing on X, Andrew said, “Excited to take on my new role as Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport after serving as the Shadow Chief Whip. Looking forward to holding the Labour government to account and developing the Conservative vision for these vital industries.”

Culture Secretary LISA NANDY congratulated Andrew on his new role, writing on X, “We both share a passion for the richer, larger lives that music, art, sport and culture unlock. Looking forward to working with you.”
