Sir MARK GRUNDY has been appointed to the board of City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), and current trustees JANE FIELDING and GURPREET BHATIA have been made Deputy Chairs.
CEO of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust since 2007, Grundy also served as Principal of Shireland Collegiate Academy and has been an advisor to the West Midlands Regional Schools Commissioner. He was knighted for his contributions to education and technology in 2006.
Fielding was a partner at the international law firm Gowling WLG LLP until her retirement in 2023. She chairs the CBSO Group Stakeholder Pension Management Committee and champions the board’s health and safety.
A solicitor and managing partner at Harbans Singh & Co, Bhatia specialises in commercial and residential conveyancing, immigration, nationality and citizenship. He has served as a Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands, as a trustee of Commonwealth Sport and Legacy WM and is also a Sandwell Business Ambassador.

"The addition of Sir Mark, alongside Jane and Gurpreet’s expanded leadership roles, will help to strengthen our governance and secure the continued success and sustainability of the CBSO."
