CILIP elects vice president
The library and information association, CILIP (the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals), has elected CARRYL ALLARDICE as its next vice president.
She will serve a one-year term during 2025, moving on to take the role of CILIP president in 2026.
Currently Allardice is the head of profession for knowledge and information management at the foreign, commonwealth and development office, where she has been chief librarian for almost 20 years.
Allardice said: “I welcome the honour of being able to give back to the library and information professional community as vice president and then president of CILIP, having enjoyed the privilege of working as a librarian and information professional.
“My goal is to inspire the community through my advocacy of the profession and to address vital issues that matter to our members.
“I will use my new role over the next two years to champion CILIP’s professional registration work, highlighting the importance of library and knowledge professionals investing in their skills, as well as demonstrating their professional credentials through certification, chartership, fellowship and revalidation.
“I will also seek to influence others on the importance of ethical standards to uphold our international professional standing.”
