Dowdeswell reappointed to Royal Museums Greenwich

Professor JULIAN DOWDESWELL has been reappointed as a Royal Museums Greenwich Trustee.

His new four-year term began in September. 

Dowdeswell is a glaciologist, who has worked in Antarctica and many parts of the Artic. He has been Professor of Physical Geography at Cambridge University since 2002 and recently retired as Director of the Scott Polar Research Institute after 20 years. 

Dowdeswell is a former Chair of the UK National Committee on Antarctic Research and has represented the UK on the councils of both the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC). 

His achievements include the Founder’s Gold Medal from the Royal Geographical Society and the Lyell Medal of the Geological Society of London.
