Glasgow Life boss to retire
SUSAN DEIGHAN will retire as chief executive of culture and sport charity Glasgow Life in June 2025.
Deighan was appointed to the role in April 2022, having held senior positions, including deputy chief executive and director of city marketing and external relations, in her 18 years with the organisation.
Previously, she was employed for 11 years by Glasgow City Council in roles including senior producer at Tramway and King’s Theatre and head of support services.
Deighan said: “Leading one of Scotland’s most important charities has been the greatest privilege of my career, and the past three years have shown, more than ever, the scale and significance of Glasgow Life’s social and economic contribution to Glasgow.
“Establishing a financially sustainable long-term future for Glasgow Life has been fundamental to my role as chief executive. I am particularly proud of the work that has gone into balancing our budget during a period of global and local financial pressures, and that our participation and income continue to grow.”
BAILIE ANNETTE CHRISTIE, chair of Glasgow Life and Glasgow City Council’s convenor for culture, sport and international relations, said: “Susan has made an outstanding contribution to Glasgow Life and to the city of Glasgow. Her vision and leadership have strengthened our charity, leaving a legacy that ensures culture and sport remain central to Glasgow’s identity and future prosperity.”
Glasgow Life said recruitment for a new chief executive will begin soon.
