SIMON GODWIN is the next Chair of Trustees at The London Library.

He will take over from current Chair Sir HOWARD DAVIES, who will step down at the end of his second four-year term in November.

Godwin has a background in financial services and was most recently a founding Partner and Finance Director of asset management firm Fundsmith.

He is the current Chair of GaitQ Limited, an organisation developing medical devices to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease. Alongside this, he is a co-founder and trustee of Levelling Up: STEM, supporting A-level students from under-represented backgrounds in STEM subjects.

As a long-standing member of the library, Godwin said he is “honoured” to become Chair, calling it a place he can “always go for inspiration”.

“The Library has a unique place in our cultural landscape, providing a centre of creativity and ideas for over 180 years,” he added.

“It has flourished under Sir Howard Davies’ leadership, and I am becoming part of a fantastic team. I look forward to helping build on this success and to continue to broaden its reach.”
