Dame JULIE KENNY has been appointed a Commissioner of Historic England for an initial four-year term by Culture Secretary LUCY FRAZER.

As part of her role, which began on 1 February, Kenny will oversee the work of Historic England and the National Heritage Collection.

A South Yorkshire-based entrepreneur, Kenny worked as the founder, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of electronics manufacturer Pyronix Limited, until its sale in 2016. She is also the founding Chair of Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust.

Historic England Chair Sir LAURIE MAGNUS said he is “delighted” to welcome Kenny as a Commissioner.

“Historic England will benefit greatly from her extensive expertise, not least in heritage restoration, as we champion the power and potential of our country’s rich heritage to help improve civic pride, prosperity, wellbeing and opportunity.”
