JEMMA GUERRIER is set to become Managing Director of The Reader.

She has been Chief of Transformation & Growth for six years at the charity, which works to connect people through shared reading practice. Taking up her new post this month, Guerrier will lead on strategic development and ensuring the organisation’s financial viability.

KATIE CLARK has been appointed Director of Literature and will be responsible for chosen literature, programming and volunteer support, as well as developing the charity's creative vision and shared reading practices.

The appointments follow the departure of founder DR JANE DAVIS, who retired in December after 25 years leading the organisation.

“It’s been an absolute joy to work at building the Reader for the first 25 years of its life. So much has been achieved as the organisation has grown from a glimmering vision, to a people-powered movement that has the backing of so many wonderful volunteers, funders and supporters,” Davis said.

ANITA MARSLAND, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said Clark and Guerrier bring a long-standing commitment to The Reader’s mission and core purpose, and also “new energy and creative power that will drive the organisation forward at a time when the world needs shared reading more than ever”.
