Leeds Heritage Theatres appoint public servant with ‘deep roots in the region’
Former pro-chancellor at the University of Leeds, LINDA POLLARD, is to chair the board of Leeds Heritage Theatres.
Pollard, who was made a dame in 2020, is to succeed ALAN GAY in the role in May next year.
She joins an organisation representing three venues: Leeds Grand Theatre, City Varieties Music Hall, and Hyde Park Picture House.
Her years of what Leeds Heritage Theatres called “distinguished public service” include leading a review into NHS Counter Fraud Authority and 12 years as chair of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Pollard has founded and led several businesses in marketing, property, and retail and is a champion of women in leadership positions.
Her ties to the local area also saw her named Yorkshire Woman of the Year in 2021, and a lifetime achievement award at the 2025 Yorkshire Post Business Awards.
Leeds Heritage Theatres’ chief executive, VICKY CHEETHAM, described Pollard’s “exceptional experience” and “deep roots in the region”, adding: “I look forward to working closely with her as we continue to build on our ambitions for the future.”
Pollard said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Leeds Heritage Theatres at such an exciting time in its journey. The arts are central to the identity and ambition of Leeds, and the venues play a vital role in bringing people together, nurturing creativity and celebrating our shared heritage.”
