London Musical Theatre Orchestra (LMTO) has named STUART BARR its new Chair. Barr takes over from interim Chair LEE BOWMAN, who remains on the board.

Barr is CEO of Hey Maestro, a digital platform for music teachers and students that records lessons and uses AI to auto-generate practice notes and plans.

A Musical Director in the West End for over a decade, he was previously Chair of the London Youth Choirs and President of the British Voice Association.

During the pandemic, Barr founded Out to Perform, which lobbied the government to ease restrictions on outdoor performances.

Barr joins LMTO alongside new trustees ANNA DIEHM, JOHN FORREST and JEFFREY BRADY. An experienced fundraiser, Diehm has held senior roles in the youth education charity European Youth Parliament Germany and is currently Head of Annual Giving at London Business School.

Forrest has 17 years of board experience and is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Spire Healthcare, while Brady is Senior General Manager & Head of Touring at Trafalgar Entertainment with 20 years experience in the sector.

On his appointment, Barr said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Chair, and I am looking forward to taking the organisation to new heights.”

FREDDIE TAPNER, founder and Chief Executive of LMTO said: “I am excited by the opportunity our expanded board provides to the vision we have for LMTO. Anna, John, Jeffrey and Stuart bring a range of skills and experiences to boost the skills and support already shown by the other trustees they join.”
