Music Patron, a project that supports UK composers, has appointed AUGUSTA QUINEY as its first chief executive officer.

Set up by the Sound and Music charity in 2021, the appointment of a CEO is part of Music Patron’s preparation to become a standalone charity in 2026.

Quiney joins Music Patron from Amnesty International, where she has been the global head of arts and strategic partnerships since 2015.

She is also the founding owner and director of A-Bomb, a music strategy consultancy that she ran from 2001 to 2015.

Writing on LinkedIn, Quiney said she was “thrilled” about this “exciting new chapter”

She continued: “Music Patron represents everything I’ve always believed in – the power of direct relationships between artists and those who value their vision, and the fundamental importance of ensuring brilliant creators can focus on their art rather than just surviving.

“I couldn’t be more excited to lead this innovative platform as we scale our impact, building a thriving community where 100% of patron donations go directly to our composers.”

Music Patron currently supports 27 composers and has a community of over 100 patrons.

DR WILL DUTTA, chief executive at Sound and Music, said Quiney’s appointment “strengthens the foundations [of Music Patron] for continued growth while maintaining the values and relationships that have made [it] successful.”
