Site Gallery has appointed KATE BRINDLEY as its new chair. She succeeds TOM FLEMING, who steps down after eight years in post.

Brindley joins the Sheffield-based contemporary arts space and Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, having recently been director of arts, culture, and heritage at the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SMYCA), and cultural development consultant at Sheffield City Council.

Previously, she has led arts organisations, including MIMA in Middlesborough and Bristol’s Arnolfini and its Museum and Art Gallery.

Brindley said: “Site Gallery has an important role to play in Sheffield and the region for artists and communities. I am so impressed with their leadership in the city. I am looking forward to working with the talented team and trustees to deepen reach and impact.”

Site Gallery chief executive JUDITH HARRY added: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Kate to Site Gallery. I have been so impressed by her leadership and resilience as she has led contemporary art organisations through challenging times over the many years I have known her.

“She has made a great impact in South Yorkshire through her strategic consultancy with SYMCA and Sheffield City Council and I am so pleased that she will continue her commitment to Sheffield as chair of Site Gallery.”
