New director for Oxford Cultural Leaders
Dr XA STURGIS has been named the new academic director of Oxford Cultural Leaders (OCL).
Sturgis, who is currently director of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum, was awarded a CBE for services to culture in the King’s Birthdays Honours earlier this year.
He takes up the role following the retirement of Professor PAUL SMITH, OCL’s co-founder.
OCL is a programme aimed at senior management professionals in the cultural sector, designed and delivered by Oxford University’s Gardens, Libraries & Museums in partnership with the Saïd Business School.
It involves a combination of workshops, lectures, panel discussions and keynote speeches delivered by cultural sector leaders, business school experts and industry authorities.
According to a statement from OCL, Sturgis is a long-standing member of the faculty “with a deep understanding of the programme’s vision and will continue to build on the solid foundation laid by Professor Smith.”
Sturgis’s appointment coincides with the tenth anniversary of the programme.
