New trustee joins National Gallery

Prime Minister KEIR STARMER has appointed PATRICIA RUBIN as trustee of The National Gallery for a four-year term that began in November 2024.

An art historian, professor, and administrator, Rubin has been deputy director of the Courtauld Institute of Art, founding head of the Courtauld Institute Research Forum, director of the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University and acting director of Harvard University Center for Renaissance Studies/Villa I Tatti in Florence.

As a co-curator, consultant, and catalogue contributor, she has worked on numerous exhibitions and served on museum boards and committees at the Getty Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Morgan Library and Museum, and the Galleria dell’Accademia of Venice.

Rubin has also written several books and essays on Renaissance art and related topics.
