JOE BROOK is stepping down from his role as director of the Peace Museum.

Brook joined the organisation in January ahead of its relocation from Bradford to new premises at the World Heritage Site, Salts Mill in Saltaire. It reopened in August after a four-year hiatus.

In a statement, the Peace Museum said Brook was “an expert in museum design” who had “worked tirelessly” with staff and contractors to transform an empty ex-warehouse space into “the amazing exhibition that we have today”.

It added: “The Peace Museum thanks Joe for all he has achieved. We wish him well in his future career.”

Brook has over 25 years’ experience in the museum and heritage sector, including posts at National Museums Liverpool and Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum.

Writing on LinkedIn, Brook, who is listed as becoming head of scenic at Sterling Event Group last month, said: “The Peace Museum is off to a flying start, and the stage is set for a future of success… but sadly, my work is now done, and it is time to move onto my next adventure.

He continued: “I cannot wait to see what the future holds, and I wish [the team there] all the very best – it’s a gem of a museum, and I am sure it will go far with their talent, drive and passion.”
