Songwriter Crispin Hunt appointed president of PRS Members’ Council
Multi-platinum-selling songwriter and record producer CRISPIN HUNT has been elected as the new president of the PRS Members’ Council.
He will take up the role from 1 January 2025, replacing the singer-songwriter MICHELLE ESCOFFERY, the council’s inaugural president.
Hunt, who has worked with artists including Florence and The Machine, Lana Del Ray and Rod Stewart, has been a writer-director on the PRS Members’ Council since 2019.
He was previously chair of the UK’s Ivors Academy for six years and is a former director and co-CEO of the Featured Artists Coalition.
As the new president, a key part of his role will be advocating for songwriters, composers, and music publishers.
Hunt said he was “honoured” to be elected president by the Members’ Council.
He continued: “I look forward to serving and supporting our community with all my heart, insight, and energy as we unite to navigate the future of music, uphold its human value, and empower our songs, scores, syncs, and symphonies through this exciting time for collective and creative rights.”
He added that Escoffery was “an inspirational act to follow”.
Escoffery said: “Over these last four years, I’ve been honoured to see first-hand how PRS members are leading the charge – adapting, connecting and driving change in ways that will define our industry for generations to come.
“Crispin is a proud advocate of music creators, and I wish him every success in this new role.”
