PHILIP FLOOD will leave his position as Director of music education charity Sound Connections at the end of September.

Flood joined the National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) in 2010. Before this, he held roles as Head of LSO Discovery and Education Director for Spitalfields Music.

“I am enormously proud of what Sound Connections has achieved over the last 14 years," he said.

"Our continued support from Youth Music since 2002 and becoming an [Arts council England] NPO in April 2023 is a real testament to the vital need for this sort of work.

"However, what fills me most with joy are the people I have been privileged to work with. The whole team and trustees have been enormously supportive throughout, and I am very grateful for that.”

NORTON YORK, Chair of Trustees at Sound Connections, added: “Philip has been a remarkable Director of Sound Connections. He has managed to balance the organisation’s diverse and complementary roles in London and throughout the UK with care, humility and expertise, qualities that are widely recognised by friends and colleagues throughout the music and music education worlds.

"We wish Philip every happiness and success in the future and know he will continue to make a beneficial contribution to the musical life of the country in everything he does. The trustees and I are now in the process of providing new leadership for Sound Connections and we look forward to announcing this over the Summer.”
