SUZANNE BELL has been chosen by Theatr Clwyd to lead Wales’ professional development hub, Stiwdio Clwyd, which supports professional theatre makers throughout their careers. The Stiwdio was developed following research with leaders of the National Theatre Studio.

The role has been funded by the John Ellerman Foundation and the Noel Coward Foundation.

Bell’s most recent roles include dramaturg at the Royal Exchange Theatre. She has led artist development programmes and workshops globally and, for the last 12 years, has overseen the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting.

She was also the first literary manager and dramaturg at Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres.

Bell said of her appointment: “I am delighted to be joining Theatr Clwyd at this pivotal moment in its history and am excited to have the honour and privilege to work with and support Welsh artists. Stiwdio Clwyd will be transformational in supporting artists, creatives and theatre makers throughout their careers and across disciplines.”
