The Coventry-based theatre company Talking Birds has appointed a new chair and vice-chair.

Writer and artist DAN THOMPSON, who is based in Margate, is the company’s new chair.

Thompson, whose own practice has seen him working internationally, is best known for his work turning empty shops into art spaces.

JESS PINSON has been made vice-chair. She is a Midlands-based producer with over 25 years experience in community-led and participatory arts.

Working across theatre, outdoors arts, and gallery settings, she is currently running an NPO project with Live&Local and producing with From the Heart Theatre.

DEREK NISBET, co-artistic director at Talking Birds, said: “We’re delighted that Dan and Jess are taking on these important roles.”

He added that the pair would be overseeing the company’s programme at its home base, The Nest, in Coventry, as well as further afield with its outdoor arts shows across the UK.
