KULLY THIARAI is to take up the role of chair of Without Walls, a network of over 30 outdoor festivals and arts organisations.

She will take over the position from outgoing chair JO BURNS in January.

Thiarai is a former artistic director and chief executive of National Theatre Wales and was most recently creative director and CEO of LEEDS 2023, a role which saw her oversee over 1,700 events as part of the city’s £24m year of culture programme.

She is currently chair of the theatre company Paines Plough and co-chair of Slung Low, as well as a trustee of the Art Foundation and National Theatre Scotland.

“As a network of festivals and artists, we celebrate diverse artistic practice and Kully’s experience and expertise perfectly aligns with these values,” said Without Walls director RALPH KENNEDY.

“I look forward to collaborating together to bring exceptional outdoor arts to audiences everywhere.”
