Gorman says 'Wac Arts plays a vital role in nurturing creativity and confidence in young people'
Wac Arts welcomes new chair
London-based charity Wac Arts has appointed trustee MARGARET GORMAN as chair.
Gorman has extensive experience in the financial sector. Since 2006 she has worked for Citi, where she is currently workforce planning manager. She is also an artist and illustrator.
The new chair said she was “honoured” to take on the role, adding that Wac Arts “plays a vital role in nurturing creativity and confidence in young people”.
“As both an artist and a professional, I understand the transformative power of the arts – not just as a form of expression but as a foundation for opportunity and growth,” said Gorman.
“Wac Arts has an exciting future, and I look forward to working with the team to build on its legacy, expand its reach, and ensure that every young person we support can thrive”.
Gorman succeeds JUSTINA CRUICKSHANK, who has been Wac Arts’ chair since 2020.
The charity provides a “creative hub” for young people in north London, with activities including evening and weekend classes and a summer school.
Cruickshank said “[I am] happy that I leave the charity in a strong financial position with excellent connections with its community, as it continues to fill an important gap in the provision of arts for children and young people.”
