Woolwich Works has welcomed STEVE SAYER and KARL WHITEMAN as trustees.

The multidisciplinary creative events space is run by Woolwich Creative District Trust, which aims to ensure the Woolwich Works facilities support the wider community in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Currently, senior vice president and general manager of The O2, Sayer was previously operations director at Manchester City FC.

Whiteman is chair of Berkeley Capital, a division of homebuilder Berkeley Group, and, for more than 20 years, he has overseen the creation of Royal Arsenal Riverside.

Director of Woolwich Works, NICK WILLIAMS, said: “These two new appointments are incredibly exciting for everyone here at Woolwich Works.

“Steve brings experience from an iconic entertainment brand, while Karl has the local expertise and business acumen that will really help us to make an impact. We’re greatly looking forward to their contributions, supporting Woolwich Works’s rise as a major London destination and an important part of the local fabric.”

Sayer said: “As a former resident of Royal Arsenal in Woolwich and a passionate advocate for music and culture in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, I am delighted to be joining the Woolwich Works board of trustees.”

Whiteman added, “I’m delighted to be joining Woolwich Works’ board of trustees. Berkeley has been supporting this fantastic venue since it first opened its doors, and it has been wonderful to see so many local people benefit from its community programmes over the last three years.

“I’m keen that we reach as many Woolwich residents as possible and that this beautiful building continues to be treasured by the community.”
