An unprecedented legacy gift of £925k left by a music lover to Arts Council England has been distributed among music organisations. The money was left in the will of Ms. Diana Kurzman “for the benefit of orchestras and the performance of chamber music and opera.”  After consideration of Ms Kurzman's wishes, £150,000 has been donated to Sheffield-based chamber music promoter Music in the Round, £350,000 to Orchestras Live, and £425,000 to Aldeburgh Music, in partnership with the Royal Opera House and Opera North, to commission new large-scale opera works.
