Former Shadow Minister for International Development is handed the culture brief by Prime Minister Keir Starmer after Thangam Debbonaire loses her seat.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has chosen Lisa Nandy to head up the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) following Labour's victory in yesterday's general election.
The appointment comes after Shadow Culture Secretary Thangam Debbonaire, who had been an MP since 2010, lost sizeably to Green Party co-Leader Carla Denyer in the Bristol Central parliamentary constituency.
Nandy, who is MP for Wigan, entered parliament in 2010 after five years as a policy adviser for the Children's Society. Prior to the general election she was Shadow Cabinet Minister for International Development.

She has also held shadow cabinet roles in housing, foreign and commonwealth affairs, and energy and climate change.
She becomes the 13th Culture Secretary since 2010, succeeding Conservative Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer who, like Debbonaire, lost her seat following yesterday's vote.
Barbara Keeley, who was Shadow Arts Minister prior to standing down as an MP at the election, is among several Labour politicians to receive peerages.
