Arts workers have best work-life balance, survey finds
Arts and culture workers have a better work-life balance than workers in other industries, a survey has found.
The survey of 1,000 Brits, conducted in July 2024 by phone answering service Face For Business, asked respondents how likely they are to pick up the phone to their managers or colleagues outside of working hours.
It found that arts and culture workers had the second-highest response rate to their managers during sociable hours, picking up 38.5% of calls. Meanwhile, almost a quarter (23%) of arts and culture workers said they would pick up the phone to their colleagues outside of working hours.
“However, they are also more likely to disengage outside of work hours, often prioritising personal time over work obligations,” the analysis added.
Face For Business MD Andy MacGregor said that as demand for work flexibility and better work-life balance continues to grow, businesses must reassess their expectations for after-hours availability.
“Achieving harmony between work and personal time remains a challenge for both employees and employers alike,” he added.
