Borough of Culture commits to £1m legacy funding
£1m has been earmarked by Brent Council to ensure the legacy from its year as London Borough of Culture 2020 can live on.
Plans for the future include free workspace for 14 visual artists living and working in Brent who will be given studio space in Kilburn as part of a new year-long residency programme.
The Borough launched its first Art Biennial in September last year, with artist commissions in libraries, public spaces and on the street. This will be followed by a second Art Biennial next year and the first Brent Music Biennial in 2023.
Metroland Cultures, a new independent charity led by Lois Stonock, artistic director of Brent 2020, will be responsible for taking the plans forward.
