Carlisle to benefit from Rural England Prosperity Fund

Arts and culture in Carlisle are to get a boost from the government's Rural England Prosperity Fund.

Carlisle has recieved £474,841 from the new £110m fund.

Benefits from the funding will include support for arts and culture as part of plans to grow local tourism.

Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary Therese Coffey said the fund allowed the government to "work closely with local leaders to direct funding where it is most needed".

John Stevenson, Conservative MP for Carlisle, said: "This extra funding will help to support communities while unleashing the potential of areas by creating new jobs and boosting the rural economy.”
