Twenty-two MPs from across the political divide have signed a motion urging action on threats to the music industry.

Politicians joining the campaign by UK Music retiterated many of the association's demands: a Government-backed insurance scheme, extending the VAT freeze on cultural tickets, and providing additional support for freelance musicians.

All-Party Parliamentary Group for Music Chair David Warburton, who is a signatory, said he was "acutely aware" of the challenges the pandemic has caused for the industry.

"I’m delighted that the Government has listed and extended the ban on commercial evictions and supported many music venues, but more support is urgently needed to match the extension of restrictions."
