Delivery partner identified for delayed London Borough of Culture programme

Deptford-based arts centre The Albany will be the lead delivery partner for Lewisham Borough of Culture 2022. Home to a several creative and cultural organisations, it will build on local and national partnerships to deliver a programme that both reflects the experiences of people in Lewisham and raises awareness of the climate emergency.

Lewisham received the award for London Borough of Culture 2021, but due to the pandemic this has been postponed to 2022. Brent, the London Borough of Culture for 2020, began this year with a mass participation event with more than 300 local residents and young people performing in front of Wembley Stadium, but the programme was switched to a "digital and blended series of events" following the impact of Covid-19.
