Devon project supports Afghan families

An arts project is helping Afghan families settle into life in Devon after relocating to the UK.
 
The Gatherers initiative, run by arts charity Honeyscribe and Libraries Unlimited, invites people to join walks to collect flowers to make arts and craft objects.
 
The project involved 18 families who have relocated to Braunton through the Afghan Resettlement Assistance Policy.

One participant said: “I think it has been very useful and joyful for us and it has helped the children make new friends.”
 
Sarah Bushell, a supervisor at Braunton Library, said the initiative had “amplified” the role of libraries in bringing people together.
