Drama graduates launch new London theatre company
A group of 19 acting graduates from the Italia Conti drama school in Woking have launched a new theatre company in south London.
Following its inaugural performance of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House at the Golden Goose Theatre in Camberwell, the New Rep Theatre Company says it will be based at the venue for its first season of plays.
Artistic director David Knight said: “I am of course incredibly passionate and excited about what The New Rep Theatre can achieve. As we begin our journey we need to reach out to as many people as possible, to raise our profile and to bring in our audiences.
“We will perform monthly plays during our seasons, showcasing famous and forgotten classical texts with a focus on making these texts speak to audiences in a modern setting.
“We also hope to reach out to our community, offering school workshops and drama classes to make sure we are facilitating the next generation of young creatives to find their voice and place within the industry.”
