Festival funding decision-making criticised in Northern Ireland

Councillor Nuala McAllister said a decision to provide £40k each to four festivals in heavily unionist areas of Belfast was part of a “carve up” by unionist and nationalist councillors. She said the move undermined both the process of allocating funding and confidence in the arts sector.
