A former theatre leader has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after admitting embezzling money from a children’s drama group.

The Express reports that David McCann, who goes by the stage name David Wallace, took £75,000 from PACE Theatre Company in Paisley, Scotland.

Prosecutors alleged he embezzled £108,831.80, but his plea of guilty to £75,000 was accepted by the court last month.

Grant Mason, the chief executive of PACE, said the organisation “welcomes a resolution to this matter” and would “review its options with regard to any further civil action”.
