The future of Isle of Skye's largest cultural centre has come into question after it was put on the market.

The Aros Centre in Portree consists of a restaurant, theatre, art gallery and retail area that attract 240,000 visitors annually.

An online listing describes the centre as "a fantastic opportunity for a purchaser to capitalise on the tourism industry on the Isle of Skye" and requests offers over £1.9m.

Skye and Raasay Councillor Calum Macleod said the "iconic" venue had become a "community asset" by hosting a range of Gaelic themed events.

"I would hope that it continues going along that path, being able to deliver appealing events of a local and cultural value."
