Jerwood art collection to be withdrawn from gallery in dispute with funder

The Hastings-based Jerwood Gallery, one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations, will have to give up the Jerwood Collection of almost 300 works of modern and contemporary British art, after the Jerwood Foundation announced that a funding agreement that has been in place since 2012 will end this year. The gallery will change its name but remain one of the foundation’s tenants, as the philanthropic organisation owns the building.
