The principal and chief executive of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), Mark O’Thomas, says the drama school has “never been stronger” financially in filing its accounts for the financial year 2023/24.

The accounts, available on Companies House, detail an unrestricted income of £17.6m, up from £14.6m the previous financial year.

The figure is buoyed by a 21% year-on-year increase in tuition fees, now standing at £6.4m for the latest financial year. Meanwhile, donations and endowments were up to £1.7m from around £809,000 the prior year.

In the account filing, O’Thomas added that exam income had reached an all-time high, standing at £7.1m in 2023/24 – while the 2024 fundraising gala netted £260,000 to support ongoing initiatives.

LAMDA’s account filing also mentions plans to expand the school’s international footprint, including through creative hubs in East Asia.

The school is set to open a permanent office in New York later this month.
