A new theatre opening in east London in May has announced its first programme of work.

Soho Theatre Walthamstow, restored from a former 1930s venue, will present a monthly comedy lineup, with other shows including new work from live artist Bryony Kimmings and a pantomime.

The venue includes a Grade II* listed auditorium with 960 seats, as well as new studio spaces, backstage facilities, four bars and a restaurant.

The last live performance at the old venue, the Granada, took place in 1973 before the building became a cinema which closed in 2003.

In 2019, Waltham Forest Council partnered with Soho Theatre to buy and restore the theatre as part of its London Borough of Culture legacy commitment.
