Rivington Music Festival cancelled over low ticket sales

Bolton's Rivington Music Festival has cancelled after ticket sales fell below viability.

Andrew Suter, Projects Manager at Rivington Terraced Gardens, the event's planned site, said 800 tickets were sold in the first weekend of sales but just 250 more were brought after restrictions were extended earlier this month.

Organisers will lose about £3000 in unrecoverable costs, Suter said.

“We cannot afford to run the event with around half capacity.

"As a small charity, events are the lifeblood of our fundraising and a second year of hardship is truly devastating for our board and for the future of the Terraced Gardens."
