V&A Director calls for ‘hotel tax’ to offset culture funding cuts

Tristram Hunt said that local authorities in UK cities should be able to fund culture through a tax on hotel visits. He accepted this additional revenue would probably go to institutions that had been “absolutely smashed” by cuts, rather than higher-profile organisations such as the V&A.ay
