Several venues have cancelled planned performances by Andrew Lawrence after the comedian made racist remarks online about some of England's football team.

Crewe Lyceum, Hazlitt Theatre and Worcester Live are among those looking to refund tickets.

Lawrence's agent, RBM Comedy, also said it no longer represents him.

Hazlitt Theatre said his comments "do not reflect the values of Parkwood Theatres", the venue's operator.

Crewe Lyceum said Lawrence's act "treads the fine line between controversy and comedy".

"However in this instance, Andrew's comments on social media crossed that line.

"We support free speech and will continue to present shows, acts and artists in our venue with a wide range of views. But words spoken freely are not without consequence.

"Put simply – and however it is intended – racism isn't funny."
