The Theatre Management Association has handed out this year’s prizes, including those recognising work in marketing, hospitality and diversity.
The Most Welcoming Theatre award went to the New Wolsey in Ipswich, marking its achievement in customer relations and services both front-of-house and backstage, including the development and implementation of access policies. Graeae Theatre Company, working with Deaf and Disabled performers in London, received recognition for its promotion of diversity. The award tops off a year of successes for their Artistic Director, Jenny Sealey, who also Co-Directed the Paralympics Opening ceremony this year. Achievement in Marketing was recognised at Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre which celebrated the first anniversary of its re-opening in October and has sold  11% more tickets than projected in that time.
